But if you really want to go back to biblical times, where the name Tamar first appears (Genesis 38), Tamar is pronounced the way I pronounce it.

So, have you used Umberto the Umbrella yet? Probably doesn’t rain as much in NYC I guess.

And just to stick up for myself, most people in the UK seem to pronounce it “TAY-mar” too – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Tamar and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamar_Site are both pronounced my way
