Social Media Listening and PR Management: Will SentiOne Cut It?

Regardless if you run a niche blog, a full-fledged online store, or an online marketing agency — the integrity of your brand is at the mercy of the online community’s collective voice.

Your competitors will also be working round the clock to either outperform your strategies or ruin your credibility by spreading false information.

TL;DR: The social media space is a war zone for brands.

If you want to dominate your competitors, then you need to have a proactive approach when it comes to social listening and PR management. And to do that, you need a powerful cloud-based platform — that’s what SentiOne is.

How does SentiOne work?

SentiOne is one of the newest social listening platforms that can help businesses stay in-tune with conversations all over the internet.

It is designed to help them engage prospective leads who’ve shown interest in their brand, adopt trending topics for content marketing purposes, and clarify any misinformation that may harm their reputation.

Occasionally, social listening also unravels new content marketing strategies that you can leverage before your competitors do. After all, the content preferences of the online community can change without prior notice.

According to the company’s founders, SentiOne leverages an in-house technology that enables the tool to be flexible, customizable, and incredibly accurate when aggregating results.

In tandem with the platform’s developers, a group of multinational data scientists inspects and validate the results to fine-tune the platform’s search algorithms.

But you shouldn’t take the founders’ word on the effectiveness of SentiOne. Instead, let’s take a closer look at how it performs firsthand:

Creating Projects with SentiOne

Upon loading SentiOne, you’re sent directly to the project creation process. The first step requires you to choose between three modes of tracking:

  • Brand – Choose this option if you want to monitor for mentions of your brand, product name, or competitors.
  • Social Profiles – If you want to track personal accounts and profiles in social media, select this option instead.
  • Other – Lastly, choose this option if you want to track keywords from online content.

The next steps would depend on the option that you’ll choose. But if you want to learn everything about the platform, then you should bypass this step and head to the “Advanced Project Configurator” instead, which is located at the bottom of the project creation page.

The Advanced Project Configurator allows you to create projects based on specific rules, keywords, and additional options. It may sound complicated, but it’s surprisingly very easy to use.

For example, if you want a project that tracks for brand mentions on Facebook groups, simply hover your mouse over the “Facebook” icon, click “Group”, and then insert the keywords you want to use under “Project Rules”.

With SentiOne, you can use an unlimited number of keywords under different types of rules.

You can also create “Exclude” rules to block certain results from showing. For example, you can exclude content that’s created by a specific author who works for a competitor.

As you type in keywords, a preview of the results should appear on the right side of the editor. This is useful for testing how your project’s combination of rules and options works, making sure you get the exact project layout that matches your social listening goals.

Once you’re satisfied with everything, click the save button to unlock the other sections in SentiOne’s interface. This is where things get a lot more interesting.

Tracking Your Project Mentions

A clear advantage of SentiOne is its ease of navigation. Using the left sidebar, you can easily switch between the different sections of the platform.

Upon creating your project, you can start tracking for brand mentions right away by clicking the “Mentions” icon. Next, select your project from the drop-down menu found in the top-left corner of the screen.

A list of brand mentions should now start appearing on the right side of the screen. From there, you can observe where the mention is coming from and who wrote it. A sentiment is also generated based on the general tone of the post. This can be positive, negative, or neutral.

You can use the “Sentiment” filter on the left to refine the results. For example, if you want to look for warm prospects, only highlight the “Positive” sentiment. But if you’re trying to look for negative mentions that are potentially false, choose “Negative”.

Thanks to SentiOne’s fluid interface and home-brewed search technology, the results are updated almost instantaneously.

The same performance can also be expected in the “Dashboards” section.

Analyzing the Numbers

Almost immediately, SentiOne generates truckloads of data regarding your brand’s online presence. This includes brand mentions per source, top domains, the gender distribution of your audience, and so on.

To put things in perspective, other tools can take days before they can produce results.

SentiOne relies on color-coded data visualizations, which means you’ll never be overwhelmed with information even if you use a ton of keywords in your project.

But if you want an even easier time analyzing mentions, you can simply refer to the quick summary presented in the upper right section:

Another neat feature is the tiny “Edit settings” button on each panel in the “Mentions” section. This allows you to modify the data visualizations based on filters, such as domain group, mention type, the audience’s sentiment, and gender.

Overall, SentiOne is fast, streamlined, and definitely beginner-friendly.

It’s pretty much everything you can ask for in a social listening tool. But if you weren’t impressed with the key points covered above, below are a few other noteworthy benefits of the platform:

  • Multiple user accounts for social media teams.
  • Free training and account management assistance.
  • Unlimited keywords.
  • Auto-generation of customizable PDF reports.

Conclusion

If you want to keep your brand afloat, you need to actively participate in the community, regularly share useful content, and do your best to be helpful to your target audience.

Doing so will help you forge meaningful relationships with your audience and help establish a trustworthy brand. Of course, SentiOne is more than equipped to help you with all these, and then some.
